series on May 7, 2011 at 8PM at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation. Pianist Noah Kellman and drummer Jake Goldbass accompany Kate Davis as the trio closes the current Exodus To Jazz season.A rising star on the national and international jazz scene, Kate Davis is another talented member of the female “vocalist-bassist” sorority on which the light of Esperanza Spalding’s recent Grammy award shines brightly.
Kate Davis began achieving national recognition for her bass and vocal skills while in high school in Portland, Oregon. She was named a National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts “youngARTS” Silver winner and is a four-time Downbeat Magazine Student Award winner.
Participation in two Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony programs and the Grammy Jazz Ensemble further emphasize Kate’s talent. In addition, she was selected as a Presidential Scholar of the Arts, which included a White House visit and a performance at The Kennedy Center . Since living in New York, Kate has performed at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola and The Blue Note.
In Kate Davis you will “discover” a rising star whose vocal phrasing harkens to the great women of jazz; her bass playing to musicians twice her age with four times her experience.
A highly energetic performer, Miche Fambro opens the concert with a unique combination of guitar playing and singing. “One of the magical parts about Miché’s performances is that he fuses elements of flamenco, jazz, classical, pop and soul into a style all his own.” Simply put…Miché knows how to entertain.
The Lutheran Church of the Reformation is located at 111 N. Chestnut St, Rochester, New York, 14604.
