Thanks for visiting ExodusToJazz.com. The third year of the Exodus To Jazz series began with two memorable September shows - Sept. 5th with Paradigm Shift (with Wycliffe Gordon, Marcus Printup and Gray Mayfield) and Sept.12th with the rematch between Mulgrew Miller and Johnny O’Neal.

Energized by the September shows, I am excited about the four groups being featured in October and November. Each combo – three led by drummers Ulysses Owens, Sylvia Cuenca and Jeff “Tain” Watts, the fourth led by saxophonist Seamus Blake – represents an impressive array of talent that promises great entertainment as they extend the bebop continuum.

I hope you are excited by the line-up of artists in each group. Led by Rochester’s native son Joe Locke and Jeff “Tain” Watts, several are well established among the most acclaimed musicians on the jazz scene today. Whether a bright spot on the jazz radar screen or rapidly emerging “below the radar”, the talented artists listed promise terrific month of jazz.

The back-to-back shows featuring groups led by Sylvia Cuenca and Jeff “Tain” Watts comprise the Exodus Weekend during which we will celebrate the third anniversary of the series.
