SUNDAY, JANUARY 9 – THE TAMIR HENDELMAN TRIO

Tamir HendelmanPianist Tamir Hendelman returns to perform for Exodus To Jazz patrons, riding the crest of increasing critical acclaim. While a mainstay of the Jeff Hamilton Trio and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, he has been the first-call choice of Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, John Pizzarelli, Gladys Knight, Roberta Gambarini and Diana Krall. This roster of renowned singers speaks volumes of his award-winning musicianship. Tamir’s melodic elegance renews familiar jazz standards and underpins the original tunes from his chart-topping CD entitled “Destinations”.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2011 – THE GERALD CLAYTON TRIO

Gerald ClaytonDespite his youth, pianist Gerald Clayton has performed extensively with numerous outstanding musicians in a wide variety of venues. In 2005, Gerald joined pianists Benny Green, Mulgrew Miller and Kenny Barron for a series of duo concerts in Europe. A rising star of post-bop piano, Gerald Clayton stakes his claim in jazz’s history and presence with the following words -“Tradition and innovation can peacefully coexist.” With a dynamic sound Gerald has been saluted for his” Oscar-Peterson like style” and “huge, authoritative presence”; Downbeat’s 2008 Reader’s Poll named him one of the top up-and-coming pianists.

SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2011 – FOUR80EAST

Four80East returns to Rochester with an infectious heavy-groove sound that had the ETJ audience jammin’ throughout their May 2010 concert. Still topping the smooth jazz charts with “Rollin’ On”, Four80East will perform at this year’s American Smooth Jazz Awards, for which they have received a “Best International Group” nomination. Enjoy upbeat contemporary music that spans the “smooth jazz, straight-ahead jazz” chasm. Their accessible and innovative music, enriched with impressive solo riffs, reflects some of the best talent on the jazz scene today.

SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 2011 – THE LYNNE ARRIALE QUARTET CD RELEASE CONCERT

On the road promoting her new CD entitled Convergence, pianist Lynne Arriale makes an Exodus To Jazz tour stop accompanied by JD Allen on sax, Omer Avital on bass and Johnathan Blake on drums. The concert playlist will feature tunes from Convergence,  her new CD released by Motema Records. It will be a mix Arriale’s originals and creative renditions of pop tunes including “Here Comes the Sun”(GeorgeHarrison/John Lennon), “Sister Moon” (Sting), and “Paint it Black” (Rolling Stones).

Kate DavisWith a great vocal range and impressive bass technique, 19-year-old Kate Davis is a rising star on the national jazz scene. She performs with maturity far beyond her years and has won critical raves for gigs at New York’s legendary Blue Note club, the White House and the Kennedy Center. Kate Davis’ vocal phrasing harkens back to the great women of jazz; she plays the bass like someone twice her age and with four times the experience.
